He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from Mapua Institute of Technology, now Mapua University, in 1985, successfully passing the board exam the following year, as its 3rd placer. He has completed the academic requirements for his MBA at Dela Salle University.
Following his retirement from the National Power Corporation’s Batangas Coal-Fired Thermal Power Plant in 2003, he founded Powerhaus Industrial Sales and Services, Inc. (PISAS), where he currently serves as President.
Distinguished as a trailblazer in the Philippines’ power industry, he led PISAS in introducing cutting-edge technologies. Noteworthy contributions include being the pioneer in introducing the following technologies in the Philippines power industry: Mechanical Conco Bullet Cleaning and Eddy Current Testing for Condenser and Heat Exchanger tubes, as well as pioneering the use of SF6 and Helium leak detection technology, detecting in-leakage in thermal power plant vacuum systems at parts per billion and parts per million levels of sensitivity, respectively.
His company introduced controlled blasting technique (using dynamite) revolutionizing slag removal inside coal-fired boilers in the Philippines.
PISAS has developed in-house capability, and is the only local company who has the expertise and equipment to do “In-situ Air-preheater Basket Cleaning,” affording power plants to improve Air-preheater efficiency in the shortest down time of the unit.
PISAS is also the first in the Philippines to use Smart Pigging technology for natural gas pipeline inspection, marking another milestone in the industry.
Under his guidance, PISAS has risen to its current status as a dominant market leader in scaffolding services in the coal-fired power industry. It has a world-class engineered scaffolding system design team and has one the most efficient, fastest, biggest and safest teams of experienced scaffolding installers working in the power industry.
These innovations significantly reduced unscheduled plant shutdowns, shortened shutdown durations, enhanced overall power plant efficiency and thereby resulted in dramatic cost-savings.
As a two-term national president of the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME), he achieved remarkable success, earning recognition, for one, as the “father” of PSME’s Technical Divisions.
He initiated the formation, and is a trustee, of the Power Professionals Association of the Philippines Inc. (PPAP).
He is currently the president of the PSME Foundation Inc., the organizer of the Philippine Power Expo.
