The office of the Department of Energy Sec. Raphael Perpetuo M. Lotilla informed the PPExpo organizers that the Secretary has asked Assistant Secretary Mario Marasigan to represent him to the Philippine Power Expo to deliver the Keynote Speech.
Mario C. Marasigan is a Career Service Officer III who currently serves as Assistant Secretary of the Philippine Department of Energy. Asec Marasigan supervises the Electric Power Industry Management Bureau (EPIMB), which he served as Director for more than five years prior to his appointment as Assistant Secretary. EPIMB is mandated to oversee the implementation of electric power industry restructuring to establish a competitive, market-based environment, and encourage private-sector
participation; ensure adequate, efficient, and reliable supply of electricity, and formulate plans, programs, and strategies relative to rural electrification. Asec Marasigan also served as Director for the Renewable Energy Management Bureau, which handles the overall administration, regulation, and promotion of renewable energy resources development in the country. He is also the former Director of the Energy Utilization Management Bureau, in charge of administering and implementing alternative fuel use and energy technologies including energy efficiency and conservation programs of the Department.
Asec Marasigan participated and presented papers in various local and international seminars, workshops, and conferences in the following fields: Coal Exploration, Clean Coal Technology, Hydropower Technology, Dams and Engineering Geology, Rural Electrification, Renewable Energy Technologies, and Alternative Fuels.
