The office of the Department of Energy Sec. Raphael Perpetuo M. Lotilla informed the PPExpo organizers that the Secretary has asked Assistant Secretary Mario Marasigan to represent him to the Philippine Power Expo to deliver the Keynote Speech.

Mario C. Marasigan is a Career Service Officer III who currently serves as Assistant Secretary of the Philippine Department of Energy. Asec Marasigan supervises the Electric Power Industry Management Bureau (EPIMB), which he served as Director for more than five years prior to his appointment as Assistant Secretary.

Guest Speakers:

ERC Chairperson Hon. Atty Monalisa Dimalanta will be guest speaker and the inducting officer of the new officers of the Power Professionals Association of the Philippines Inc. She will talk about the Philippine Electric Power Industry Landscape.

Mr. Jimmy Villaroman of the Aboitiz Power Corporation will also be guest speaker to discuss the Business Perpective in the power industry.

Approved CPD Points

The PRC CPD Councils for Mechanical and Electrical Engineers have approved seven (7) and three (3) CPD points, respectively.

We would like to thank the PSME Staff and IIEE Staff for their assistance in securing the CPD points for the delegates.

Other professionals will have to file the seminar under the Self-Directed Learning when renewing their license to gain CPD points. Future plan is to have CPD points for all the professionals attending the PPExpo.

Bachelor Science in Mechanical Engineering graduate from Mapua Institute of Technology from 1976 – 1980 (4.5 yrs). Registered Mechanical Engineer in 1982 and Professional Mechanical Engineer in 1995 and completed post graduate with 45 units in Management Technology.

Thirty-seven (37) years of experience in the field of Power Plant Operation and Maintenance. These include actual experience in developing strategies and programs on how to improve plant efficiency and reliability; machinery diagnostics, turbo-machinery overhauls, alignment and balancing of machinery components. Likewise, managed the development of computerized maintenance and subsequently, maintenance information system, such as Mincom Information Management System. Attended and applied Reliability Centered Maintenance [RCM] and Condition Based Maintenance.

Engr. Roger Reyes earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from Mapua Institute of Technology, now Mapua University, in 1985, successfully passing the board exam the following year, as its 3rd placer. He has completed the academic requirements for his MBA at Dela Salle University.

Following his retirement from the National Power Corporation’s Batangas Coal-Fired Thermal Power Plant in 2003, he founded Powerhaus Industrial Sales and Services, Inc. (PISAS), where he currently serves as President.

Distinguished as a trailblazer in the Philippines’ power industry, he led PISAS in introducing cutting-edge technologies. Noteworthy contributions include being the pioneer in introducing the following technologies in the Philippines power industry: Mechanical Conco Bullet Cleaning and Eddy Current Testing for Condenser and Heat Exchanger tubes, as well as pioneering the use of SF6 and Helium leak detection technology, detecting in-leakage in thermal power plant vacuum systems at parts per billion and parts per million levels of sensitivity, respectively.
